The big hitting, high energy, fast paced T20 Big Bash cricket was a raging success with sports fans this summer. Crowd Convergence was proud to work with the Sydney Thunder (@ThunderBBL) franchise to deliver an entertaining and interactive social media solution for all four of their #BBL04 home matches. Crowd Convergence created a unique offering that allowed fans to go head to head in social battles and used Photo Walls to capture the colour and hype of each event.
Sydney Thunder Big Bash Goal
Sydney Thunder strive to provide the best entertainment for their fans on and off the field. The Thunder sport presentation team required an interactive social media solution that would excite fans in the stands. The solution needed to be inclusive, simple to use and enhance the match day experience for fans and commercial partners.
Crowd Convergence used a variety of bespoke social Widgets to deliver an entertaining fan engagement package. SMS Battle Widgets were used pre-game and during the innings break to pose quirky questions to fans. SMS answers were instantly converted into real-time animations on the big screen as hundred of texts poured in.
A branded Photo Wall was used to show fan images from around the ground while a lower third Twitter strap displayed targeted and timely content during game play. The Crowd Convergence moderation system ensured the masses of Tweets were filtered and identified in real-time to display highly relevant and VIP comments.
Additionally, Crowd Convergence seamlessly incorporated a social media giveaway campaign for key commercial partner SpotJobs. A prize was awarded to the best selfie displayed on the big screen containing a SpotJobs logo and hashtag.
Fans relished their five minutes of fame on the Photo Wall, with approximately a thousand fan images being displayed on the big screen each game. Crowd Convergence worked closely with the match day and technical staff to ensure the social media activation was entirely integrated with the day’s program and stadium technology.
All parties involved in the activation were extremely impressed with the level of audience engagement sustained throughout Sydney Thunder’s Big Bash campaign.
